Step 12: Here, we adjust the center point near the hip it helps us to move the leg naturally. Step 11: For the body, we will create two pins to move the body. This tool lets you pin a point in the image, and each time we can move it, this pin acts as a smooth joint we can find a puppet pinpoint on the face as it acts as a smooth joint to move the head according to the moment of legs and hand. Step 10: Here, we select the head layer, and for creating a head layer, we use the Puppet Pin Tool. We fix the center point near the shoulder because while we rotate the hand, it moves naturally. Step 8: Select Pan Behind Tool we can use Y as a shortcut. This tool is used to move the center anchor point. Here we use this tool to change the center point of hands and legs. To create a walk cycle, we need to move legs, hands, head, and body if we rotate legs and hand, it won’t move correctly, so we need to change the center points of legs and hands now. Step 7: Here, we can find a white solid layer as a background. These are perfect for accenting holiday, luxury, or wedding photos.Step 6: We are going to add a solid layer as a background.

These can be things like dust, light rays, and fog. Be sure to use the Puppet Tool sparingly-less is usually more! Using the Puppet Tool.īy far the easiest way to animate your 2D photos is by accenting them with footage elements. This creates the look of super slow motion. You can then keyframe animation on those points over time. Select the Puppet Tool and add pin points to your subject. You can also add subtle movements to your subject layer using the Puppet Tool. Parallax animation example using scale keyframes. For example: Scale your subject up 10% during the animation, but only scale the background up 5%. This creates parallax, giving the illusion of depth on our 2D layers. Objects closer to the camera should scale more over time than objects further away. To create some depth with our 2D photo animation, all we need to do is keyframe the Scale of our layers. I also recommend applying a Camera Lens Blur effect on the background, if needed. If the results from Content Aware Fill are not optimal, you can also try using the Clone Stamp Tool to paint in the background. Background filled in with Content Aware Fill. This will automatically create a new layer to fill in the hole on the background. Open Content Aware Fill, select your background image, then just click Generate Fill Layer. To do this, you can use the Content Aware Fill in After Effects. (Otherwise, you’re left with a hole in the background!) Background with subject masked out. Once you’ve masked out your subject, you’ll need to fill in the area on the background where you removed them. This will speed up the masking process and make it easy to follow the outline of the subject. While masking, zoom in as close as you can on your image, and work in short segments.

This will give the mask a more natural appearance. When you do this, I recommend turning on the RotoBezier function, which will smooth the tracing line between each mask point. You can mask out your subject using the Pen Tool and tracing an outline around them. Masking out our subject allows us to separate them from the background. Once you’ve decided what you’d like to animate in your photograph, you will likely need to mask it out.
